Manola & Maria: Culture + Creative
Vibrant Visionaries: Manola + Maria Transform Texas’ Largest Outdoor Art Gallery
SAN ANTONIO – Against the sprawling urban canvas of Texas’ Largest Outdoor Art Gallery, twin muralists Manola + Maria left their unmistakable mark, blending bold color, culture, and storytelling in an unforgettable collaboration with Mike’s Hard Lemonade and the San Antonio Street Art Initiative (SASAI). The annual street art event, hosted in October 2024, transformed city walls into larger-than-life murals, redefining San Antonio’s creative landscape.
For Manola + Maria, whose work is deeply rooted in identity, community, and Latinx heritage, this event was more than just another project—it was a statement. Their mural, a striking fusion of vibrant flora, powerful figures, and traditional motifs, embodied their artistic ethos: to uplift, celebrate, and honor the stories of those often left in the margins.
“We wanted our mural to feel like a love letter to the people of San Antonio,” the sisters shared on their website. “Our goal is always to bring representation and emotion into public spaces where everyone can experience it.”

Art With Impact: The Power of Public Murals
The SA Street Art Initiative, now a defining force in San Antonio’s creative scene, continues to push the boundaries of public art accessibility and engagement. With over 40 artists from across the country, the 2024 edition of the Largest Outdoor Gallery in Texas was a living, breathing museum of street art, where creatives had free rein to transform walls into canvases of cultural expression.
Manola + Maria’s mural, backed by Mike’s Hard Lemonade, was a testament to their ever-growing influence in the public art sphere. Their ability to seamlessly blend Latinx iconography, feminine strength, and modern urban aesthetics has positioned them as two of the most sought-after muralists in the region.

From Deep Roots to Expansive Walls
The sisters, who started their careers painting intimate pieces in community spaces, have seen their art evolve into massive, city-defining installations. Their work reflects a deep understanding of the past while embracing the future, drawing inspiration from Mexican folk art, Chicano culture, and contemporary street aesthetics.
In collaboration with Mike’s Hard Lemonade, the duo crafted a mural that embodied both authenticity and accessibility—principles that resonate not just with their audience but also with the mission of SASAI: to make art an essential, everyday experience for the public.
