Legend of The Down House

SAN ANTONIO, TX - The Down House, a creative space on the west side of San Antonio that sought to activate the community and foster creativity, has left an indelible mark on the city. From 2018 to 2020, a group of creatives, led by The Down Market team, breathed life into the space located on E. Commerce Street, heading towards downtown San Antonio.

The Down House was a unique space where each room was designed by different creative professionals and artists. From the living room to the kitchen and dining room, every nook and cranny was infused with the creative spirit. It was a haven for artists, photographers, and writers who used the space to create and collaborate.

The Down House had its final photo shoot in 2020, with fashion photographer Jennifer Crowder and model Madison Lea capturing the essence of the space in a stunning display of artistry. Sadly, the pandemic ravaged San Antonio that year, and The Down House was forced to close its doors.

However, the impact of The Down House lives on. The Down Market team has moved on and continues to use the skills they learned at The Down House to make an impact all across San Antonio. They have been involved in various projects, including hosting music concerts, culture festivals and working on other initiatives that focus on the creative community of the city.

The Down House may no longer be around, but its legacy lives on. It was a space that fostered creativity and community, bringing people together to collaborate and create something beautiful. The impact it made on San Antonio and the people who passed through its doors is immeasurable. The Down House may have been a temporary space, but the memories and experiences it provided will last a lifetime.
